Meet the Changemaker Model: Customer Journey Map and What Experts Say About It: Part 2
In our ongoing effort to make Supported Employment (SE) more inclusive and scalable, Raoul Foundation is co-developing tools and models to support local changemakers — freelance job coaches trained to guide jobseekers into long-term employment.
One of the key challenges we’ve identified: it’s rarely effective for one changemaker to support a jobseeker through the entire SE cycle — from preparation to job placement and sustained employment. That’s why our model introduces two types of changemakers:
🔹 Type 1 Changemaker – responsible for recruiting, preparation, and matching
🔹 Type 2 Changemaker – focused on ongoing support at the workplace (6+ months)
Recently, we had our second expert session with Andreas Nyhlén (Misa Kompetens / WiljaGruppen) to deepen the conversation we started in 2024. This time, the focus was the handover process between Type 1 and Type 2 changemakers — particularly between Steps 7 and 9 of the Changemaker Journey Map (CJM).
Key questions we explored included:
💬 Under what conditions does a changemaker handover work best?
💬 Should the process be strictly defined — or stay flexible?
💬 Could pre-employment meetings between the jobseeker, employer and both changemakers strengthen trust and outcomes?
💬 What matters more: strong initial contact or consistent long-term support?
💬 Are there cases where changing job coaches actually benefits both the jobseeker and the employer?
“Raoul’s two-changemaker approach addresses a real challenge in long-term SE support. Beyond ensuring continuity of trust, it’s about creating a clear, reliable agreement that balances the expectations of both the jobseeker and the employer. The handover is a critical moment — and when done right, it strengthens satisfaction for all parties involved.” — Andreas Nyhlén, Misa Kompetens / WiljaGruppen
These insights have been integrated into the CJM and the planned tests of the Changemaker model in local settings. Raoul foundation will continue to share insights and updates of our innovative open source SE model.
